The actress, who played the iconic Daenerys Targaryen in the hit HBO series, is back on our screens in the horror anthology which is available to watch on Amazon Prime.
Emilia stars in Shackled, one of the short films part of the eight-part series by Hewes Pictures, which was filmed back in 2012.
The actress plays a character called Malu, who escapes the clutches of her captor and the circus where she’s been held, after she is released by her husband. But it seems that is where Malu’s problems start as she becomes haunted by a disturbing memory.
Chilling music plays in the anthology’s recently-released trailer, which then switches to a scene of Emilia’s character running away from something sinister in the woods.
We then see her in a creepy attic room as she pulls back a curtain that’s hanging over a mirror, to reveal a man staring back at her. When she looks back, there is no one behind her.
In a further shot from the film’s trailer, we hear someone trying to open a door, while creaking floorboards and whispering voices disturb Malu.
“Held captive by a circus, Malu is frantically rescued from her shackles by her husband,” the film’s synopsis reveals. “As she waits anxiously in the darkness for her chance to escape, a disturbing truth she’s hidden away seeps back in.”
The short film also stars Hadley Fraser as Malu’s husband, Jesse, while other stories in the anthology include a murderous tale of a couple’s romantic holiday in Palm Springs and a woman’s rideshare which becomes deadly.
Though each short film tells a standalone story, producers have encouraged viewers to watch carefully as the films are connected – which is handy because Amazon Prime has grouped all of them together back-to-back into one 1 hour 30 minute movie.
