According to reports, WWE fans now believe that Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson could be returning to the ring at Royal Rumble this year. The rumors of “The Rock” taking part in the upcoming 30-Man Royal Rumble Match are spurred by a poster the WWE released for the January 28 pay-per-view event.
Known as “The Most Electrifying Man in Sports Entertainment,” the poster for the Royal Rumble (2023) shows wrestling superstars from Raw and Smackdown surrounded by clouds and lightning. Fans are noting that the overall storm theme can only point to the beloved professional wrestler-turned-actor stepping back into the squared circle.
The return could build on rumors of “The Rock” being involved in WrestleMania 39 in a match again Roman Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship. As the annual major at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles event nears, the Royal Rumble could serve as build-up for the heavily anticipated matchup between the two wrestlers.
It is interesting to note that WrestleMania 39 has already broken the all-time WrestleMania gate record despite no matches being announced just yet. The previous record was for WrestleMania 32 back in 2016 at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, which saw a gate record of $17.3 million USD.
