It’s hand-slapping time! An energetic Hugh Jackman high-fives hordes of baying fans in Hong Kong as he promotes new movie Pan

If you ever thought being a Hollywood star was easy, take one look at Hugh Jackman’s schedule and you’ll think otherwise. 

The Australian actor has been touring non-stop for the past month promoting his latest film, Pan, in which he plays the role of Captain Hook. 

On Monday, the evergreen 46-year-old made a dynamic appearance at the Mid Autumn Celebration festival in Hong Kong, high-fiving hordes of fans, as he joined a procession of performers.

‘Nín hǎo’: Hugh uploaded a video to his Instagram, greeting his followers in Chinese

Dressed in an open-buttoned black shirt and black trousers, Hugh was characteristically charismatic as he reached out to press the flesh of his admirers, much to their delight

In a video uploaded to his Instagramaccount, the showman greeted his 3.3 million followers in Chinese before expressing how excited he was to be there.

He has already attended premieres in Europe, the United Kingdom, the United States and his native Australia.

The festival is an annual celebration to remember the people in the village of Tai Hang in the 19th century, who, as legend has it, miraculously stopped a plague with a fire dragon dance.

It has become a annual tradition, where up to 300 performers dance the fire dragon, made up of 72,000 sticks of burning incense and a 67-metre-long dragon, through the narrow streets of Tai Hang.

Hugh certainly wasn’t shy about getting involved with the festivities, jumping up on stage to hold the Dragon Pearl which is covered in burning incense sticks.

He is the first international star to be invited to feed the pearl to the Fire Dragon at the festival. 

The busy star is also in rehearsal for his area spectacular, Broadway to Oz, which will feature state-of-the-art lighting, sound and video production and a vast company of 150 musicians, singers, dancers and choir to accompany him on stage.
